Run to C.Jane and read THIS ONE by Janna Dean.
It made perfect sense to me. So SANE and comforting.
Here’s just a bit of what she shared.
“Rather than engaging in a battle laid out for you by the media and body-obsessed culture—a battle designed for you to lose--you can choose to fight a battle that you can win. You can choose a battle that will help you achieve the self esteem and acceptance you are craving. For me and my life, I choose to battle the cultural lies instead of struggling against myself. I choose to battle the notion that my body shape, skin, hair style, clothing, and weight have anything to do with the peace I find in my life.”

I say, "Ignore the media, but listen to common medical sense. A big, fat body, like mine, can't be good for my health, regardless of what the media have to say about it."
I agree with most of that article, but one thing that's really faulty is to completely ignore your body's health because you don't feel like it. A healthy diet and exercise, and a healthy weight are all things to be aware of and to keep working on. You can't just eat whatever you want when you are hungry and then stop when you aren't hungry because most people pick unhealthy foods and keep pushing the limits to fullness. It is good for people to set goals about health and its like every other kind of goal- make them realistic and positive and keep working at it. I'm certainly happy when I am eating well and getting the exercise I need. I don't think it hurts one bit to keep track of calories sometimes to give yourself a reality check about what kind of things and how much you are eating.
